Academic Overview
Academics play an important role in this stage of an adolescent’s life. Therefore we have designed a curriculum that will both challenge your child and allow them to continue their academic career. Our academics are uniquely individualized for each student. Because we are a small program, we have the luxury of customizing the curriculum around your student’s learning styles and differences.
We work closely with you as parents and with the school your child is coming from to customize the curriculum based on your child’s current standing. We will then pick up from there and move forward with the needed course work. We offer a wide range of courses, and the credits earned while at the ranch can be transferred upon completion of the program.
The academics consist of self-mastery work which allows students to learn at their pace and in the way that is most effective for them. Progress is based on each student’s individual mastery of the material so that they are not pressured by arbitrary expectations or the pace of their classmates.
The goal of our academic curriculum is to enhance the therapeutic experience your child will receive while at the ranch. Our academics are structured to serve the dual purpose of providing our students the best opportunity for success in life as well as creating an environment where learning becomes exciting and a privilege.

Academic Model
KW Legacy Ranch employs an effective hybrid approach to the education model. Your son will have an opportunity to learn in a classroom setting, online, and with one-on-one tutoring as well as through hands-on, practical-based learning. Many of our students have struggled in the traditional classroom and require a unique approach to engage them in learning.
The KW model does not require students to sit indoors at a desk all day everyday. There are absolutely dedicated times when instruction takes place indoors and online to help teach traditional subject matters such as History, Government, Math, English, and Science. And there are times when learning and instruction will take place in a natural and normal setting but where students will also earn school credit. For instance, your son will earn high school credits in English while they are working through their therapeutic curriculum. They will earn credits in Science as they learn the Ranch Operations Curriculum. He will earn internship credits as he learns welding, auto, culinary, building and construction, etc.
These are the opportunities along with many others that your child will have while participating in the academic curriculum at KW Legacy Ranch.
